Spanish phrases for b1 three-quarter milestone
Mejoras tu lectura practicando un poco cada día.
You improve your reading by practising a little every day.
Using the gerund 'practicando' expresses the method (the 'by doing' aspect).
Esa es la profesora en la que confías porque te escucha.
That is the teacher you trust because she listens to you.
A relative clause with a preposition ('en la que') matches the verb 'confiar en'.
Si ahorraras tu paga, comprarías ese balón de fútbol más pronto.
If you saved your pocket money, you would buy that football sooner.
This hypothetical uses the imperfect subjunctive 'ahorraras' and the conditional 'comprarías'.
Desde que te uniste al club deportivo, has disfrutado del agua fría después del entrenamiento.
Since you joined the sports club, you have enjoyed cold water after practice.
'Desde que' introduces a starting point in time.
Puedes o dibujar o leer en lugar de ver la televisión.
You can either draw or read instead of watching television.
'O... o' is the Spanish equivalent for 'either... or'.
Cuando tenías seis años, esperábamos fuera de tu clase cada mañana.
When you were six, we waited outside your classroom every morning.
The imperfect tense 'esperábamos' is used for repeated actions in the past.
El aula que está al lado de la biblioteca está siendo pintada.
The classroom that is next to the library is being painted.
A present passive construction using 'ser' + past participle.
Si llueve mañana, pondré tu bolsa de deporte debajo del banco porque allí se mantendrá seca.
If it rains tomorrow, I will put your sports bag under the bench because it will stay dry there.
