Spanish phrases for welcome project guests

  • Niños, pongan sus maquetas en la mesa.

    Children, put your models on the table.

    'Pongan' is the plural command form of 'poner'.

  • Ustedes dos, hablen despacio.

    Both of you, speak slowly.

    'Hablen' is the plural command for 'hablar'.

  • Niños, muéstrennos sus carteles.

    Children, show us your posters.

    The pronoun 'nos' (us) is attached to the end of the command 'muéstren'.

  • Todos, escuchen al siguiente grupo.

    Everyone, listen to the next group.

    Use 'escuchen' to address a whole group.

    'Pase' is the polite singular command for 'pasar'.

Formal and Plural Commands (Usted & Ustedes)

In Spanish, the 'polite' command (Usted) and the 'plural' command (Ustedes) are formed by using the opposite vowel ending: -ar verbs use -e/en, and -er/-ir verbs use -a/an.
