Helping your child recall recent memories is a great way to practice the Pretérito Perfecto (Present Perfect) in Spanish. This tense is used to talk about things that have happened recently or still feel connected to the present.

Spanish phrases for remember our outing

  • Has jugado al baloncesto con tus amigos.

    You played basketball with your friends.

    Uses 'has' (you have) + 'jugado' (played).

  • Hemos ido al parque juntos.

    We went to the park together.

    Unlike some languages, Spanish always uses 'haber' for 'to go'.

  • He guardado tu botella de agua.

    I packed your water bottle.

    'Guardar' is often used for putting things away or packing them safely.

  • Has montado en bici hasta el lago.

    You rode your bike to the lake.

    'Montar en bici' is the standard phrase for riding a bike.

  • Hemos comido bocadillos junto al agua.

    We ate sandwiches by the water.

    'Bocadillo' specifically refers to a sandwich made with a baguette.

  • Tu amigo ha venido con nosotros.

    Your friend came with us.

    'Ha venido' comes from the verb 'venir'.

  • Has sacado unas fotos preciosas.

    You took some lovely photos.

    'Sacar fotos' is the common way to say 'to take photos'.

  • Nos hemos quedado hasta las cinco.

    We stayed until five o'clock.

    This uses the reflexive 'quedarse' (to stay).

The Auxiliary Verb 'Haber'

To talk about the past using the Perfect tense, we always use the verb 'Haber' combined with a Past Participle. In Spanish, we do not switch between 'have' and 'be' as auxiliaries; it is always 'Haber'.
