Spanish phrases for stories from saturday

  • Visitamos a tu amigo el sábado.

    We visited your friend on Saturday.

    Notice the 'a' before 'tu amigo'; this is the 'personal a' used for people.

  • Recibiste un juego de mesa nuevo.

    You got a new board game.

    'Recibiste' comes from 'recibir' (to receive/get).

    We discovered a small bookshop.

    'Librería' means bookshop. A library is called 'biblioteca'.

    'Reconociste' is the past form of 'reconocer'.

    I forgot the snacks for your sleepover.

    'Fiesta de pijamas' is the common term for sleepover.

  • Perdiste tu billete de autobús.

    You lost your bus ticket.

    'Billete' is used for tickets in Spain; 'boleto' is common in Latin America.
