Taking control of recommended videos in Spanish

This guide helps parents navigate digital settings with their children in Spanish, focusing on the current state of privacy and playback features using the resultant passive construction.

What you'll learn

  • Identify and manage digital platform settings in Spanish.
  • Express the current state of settings using 'estar' + past participle.
  • Discuss digital safety and algorithm awareness with children.

Spanish phrases for taking control of recommended videos

  • La reproducción automática está desactivada, así que no empezará otro vídeo.

Autoplay is switched off, so another video won't start.

Uses 'desactivada' to show the current state of the setting.

  • ¿Están desactivadas las notificaciones en este dispositivo también?

Are notifications disabled on this device as well?

Note the plural agreement 'desactivadas' to match 'notificaciones'.

  • El canal está bloqueado, pero siguen apareciendo clips similares.

The channel is blocked, but similar clips still appear.

'Siguen apareciendo' implies an ongoing action despite the block.

  • Mi historial de visualización está borrado, aunque las sugerencias parecen familiares.

My viewing history is deleted, yet the suggestions look familiar.

'Borrado' describes the current condition of the history.

  • ¿Está activado el filtro para cada perfil?

Is the filter activated for every profile?

'Activado' functions as an adjective here describing the 'filtro'.

  • La configuración está guardada, así que podemos cerrar este menú.

The settings are saved, so we can close this menu.

'Configuración' is singular in Spanish when referring to the general 'settings'.

Comments are restricted, but the videos are still visible.

'Restringidos' must be masculine plural to match 'comentarios'.

  • La cuenta está vinculada a la mía por razones de seguridad.

The account is linked to mine for safety reasons.

Use 'vinculada a' for 'linked to'.
