Indirect Speech for Future Actions
To report what someone 'will' do, Spanish uses the Future Indicative when the reporting verb (says, states, promises) is in the present tense. If the reporting verb is in the past (said, stated), the Conditional is used instead.
| Use | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting in Present | Dice que + [Future Indicative] | Dice que vendrá (He says he will come). |
| Reporting in Past | Dijo que + [Conditional Simple] | Dijo que vendría (He said he would come). |
