An Invitation, Not a Demand in German

Warm little questions can express delight without becoming requests for agreement, smiles or cuddles. In this C2 unit, you will explore how German negative questions can carry expectations, and practise keeping them playful by responding to your baby's gestures, sounds and silences rather than waiting for a particular answer. For a child aged 0–2, your willingness to pause, change course or accept no response matters more than the question form alone.

Hear these phrases and practise them

Tildi plays every phrase out loud, tests you in five-minute lessons and builds them into bedtime stories from your own picture books.
