Lunchbox Shopping Together in German

Saying “I need …”
Use ich (“I”) + brauche (“need”) + the item. The item is the direct object and takes the accusative case.

Accusative: “a/an”
German chooses the word for “a/an” by the noun’s gender, not its starting sound. In the accusative, masculine ein changes to einen. Feminine eine and neuter ein stay the same.
