German phrases for halfway milestone chest

    Do you have any homework?

    Hausaufgaben is plural in German. You do not need a separate word for “any” here.

  • Lass uns zusammen lesen.

    Let's read together.

    Lass uns followed by an infinitive is a useful way to say “let's.”

  • Du hast am Dienstag Schwimmen.

    You have swimming on Tuesday.

    Schwimmen names the scheduled activity here. Am Dienstag means “on Tuesday.”

  • Ich bin stolz auf dich.

    I am proud of you.

    Learn stolz auf dich as a chunk meaning “proud of you.”

  • In deiner Tasche sind ein paar Münzen.

    There are some coins in your pocket.

    Ein paar means “a few” or “some.” Tasche can mean a pocket or a bag; context makes it clear.

  • Leg deinen Zahn bitte in eine Schachtel.

    Put your tooth in a box, please.

    Leg is an instruction to one child. Bitte makes the request polite.

  • Wir treffen deinen Freund.

    We are going to meet your friend.

    German often uses the present tense for plans. For a female friend, say deine Freundin.

  • Heute ist es sonnig.

    It is sunny today.

    Es is used in many weather expressions, like “it” in English.
