Wir haben ein Zimmer für zwei Nächte reserviert.
We have booked a room for two nights.
reservieren → reserviert: to book or reserve.
Papa hat die Zimmernummer kontrolliert.
Dad has checked the room number.
kontrollieren → kontrolliert: to check.
Die Schlüsselkarte hat diesmal funktioniert.
The key card has worked this time.
funktionieren → funktioniert: to work or function.
Ich habe unsere schöne Aussicht fotografiert.
I have photographed our lovely view.
fotografieren → fotografiert: to photograph.
Wir haben mit Oma telefoniert.
We have spoken to Granny on the phone.
telefonieren → telefoniert. Mit Oma telefonieren means to speak to Granny on the phone.

probieren → probiert: to try or taste.
Jemand hat den Aufzug repariert.
Someone has repaired the lift.
reparieren → repariert: to repair.

What has happened to your suitcase?
passieren → passiert: to happen. The participle has no ge- here either.

From -ieren to -iert
For these verbs, replace the infinitive ending -ieren with -iert to make the Perfekt participle. Do not add ge-: reserviert is correct, not gereserviert.

Probiert can mean trying something out, not just tasting food.
Diesmal hat der Aufzug funktioniert.
The lift has worked this time.
Funktioniert ends in -iert and has no ge-.
Oma hat unser Zimmer fotografiert.
Granny has photographed our room.
Fotografieren becomes fotografiert.
