Spanish phrases for a2 halfway chest
Visitamos a tu amigo hace una semana.
We visited your friend a week ago.
Use 'hace' to express how long ago something happened.
Tu proyecto ha estado en la mesa desde el lunes.
Your project has been on the table since Monday.
'Desde' means 'since' when referring to a specific point in time.
No encuentro mi casco; ¿puedo tomar prestado el tuyo?
I cannot find my helmet; may I borrow yours?
'El tuyo' replaces 'tu casco' to avoid repetition.
Tu plan es tan bueno como el mío.
Your plan is just as good as mine.
'Tan... como' is the standard way to show equality in comparisons.

Which game do you like best?
'Más' is used here to express the superlative (the most/best).
No sé si viene tu amigo.
I do not know whether your friend is coming.
In Spanish, 'si' is used for both 'if' and 'whether'.
Si tus tareas están terminadas, puedes reunirte con tus amigos.
If your chores are finished, you can meet your friends.
Notice the 'si' (if) clause sets the condition for the second part.
Ayer no pudiste jugar porque tenías que terminar tu proyecto.
Yesterday you could not play because you had to finish your project.
This reviews past modals: 'pudiste' (could) and 'tenías que' (had to).
