Spanish phrases for time to unplug

  • Vamos a tomar un descanso.

    Let's take a break.

    'Vamos a' is a simple way for A1 learners to say 'Let's'.

  • Por favor, guarda tu teléfono.

    Please put your phone away.

    'Guarda' comes from 'guardar', meaning to put away or save.

  • Vamos afuera.

    Let's go outside.

    'Afuera' means outside or outdoors.

  • Por favor, siéntate conmigo.

    Please sit with me.

    'Siéntate' is the reflexive command for 'sit down'.

  • Vamos a beber un poco de agua.

    Let's have some water.

    Literally 'Let's drink a little water'.

  • Por favor, cierra tu portátil.

    Please close your laptop.

    In Spain, 'portátil' is used; in Latin America, 'computadora' is common.

    'Juntos' is for a group; use 'juntas' if everyone is female.

Using 'Vamos a' for 'Let's'

To suggest a shared activity in a simple way, use 'Vamos a' (We are going to) followed by the base form of the verb (infinitive).
